about julie lichtenberg

A graduate of Michigan State  University, Julie began her career as a music therapist. After earning a master’s degree in social welfare from the University of California at Los Angeles, Julie established an independent living program for adults with developmental disabilities. At California State University, Northridge, she launched a program to increase the graduation of students from underrepresented communities. Seeking to make a broader difference, she transitioned to a fundraising career at the university’s business school.

Returning to Michigan, Julie led successful fundraising programs in higher education and healthcare. Most recently, she served as vice president of major gifts for the Beaumont Health Foundation, leading a team of major gift officers raising funds for Beaumont Health (now Corewell Health)

Julie is a member of the  Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Her volunteer work includes AFP, StreetWise Partners Detroit, the Taproot Foundation,  Impact 100 Detroit, Summer in the City, where she was board president, St Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center, International Volunteer Headquarters, and Congregation Shir Tikvah, where she was board vice-president

In her free time, Julie can be found studying Spanish, planning her next international trip to volunteer,  riding her bike on Michigan’s Rails to Trails, or walking her lovable Bernedoodle, Finn.

Julie understood our passion for fighting breast cancer by supporting leading-edge research and genetics counseling. She was instrumental throughout the donation process and we appreciated her professional guidance and personable approach…

It is important for us to know that our gift is having a meaningful impact on the future prevention and treatment of cancer. Julie remains in contact with us and we are grateful for our long-standing relationship with her.
